We are pleased to announce that VHPS will be starting an outdoor library! But we need your help to fill it with wonderful treasures, so we are starting ‘The Big Book Swap’.
Please encourage your children to bring in one or two old books and swap them for someone else’s, at our new Rainbow Road library, that will be opened by Reading Man on the 16th of November.
Feel free to bring more than one book in but not bag fulls, please.
This will be a great opportunity to give the children a wider range of books to read and share their reading experiences.
Thank you for your continued support,
The English Team
With the cooler weather upon us , the weaving well will be opening up at break times. We would be most appreciative if any families have any wool that they would be happy to donate.
Please bring any wool donations to the admissions office.
Many thanks, VHPS Team
We are excited to announce the SHARE A BEAR SCHOOL CHALLENGE in support of “Toys With Wings” & “Emirates Red Crescent” with the return of everyone’s favourite adventure loving bear, Paddington in Paddington 2 in Novo Cinemas 30 November.
In his last adventure, Paddington the Peruvian bear with a passion for all things British, traveled to London in search of a new start. Finding himself lost and alone at Paddington Station his luck soon changed when the loving Brown family offered him a safe haven within their home.
This holiday season we invite students from VHPS to SHARE A BEAR with those less fortunate and help their gently loved teddy bears find a new home, just like Paddington did.
This initiative would have students donate new or gently loved teddy bears to the Toys With Wings campaign in support of Emirates Red Crescent. Toys With Wings collects new and gently loved toys and distributes them to less fortunate children around the world. Since its inception, Toys With Wings has been able to distribute over 100,000 toys to children in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Morocco, Iraq, Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, Belgium, Spain and Kenya. 100,000 toys; 100,000 smiles.
The class to donate the most bears will win a special screening of Paddington 2 at Novo Cinemas at Dubai Festival City Mall.
Please bring in your donation by Tuesday, 21st November 2017 and leave this in your child’s classroom ready for collection.

To celebrate the 46th anniversary of the union, we are holding a UAE National Day Quiz for all KS1 and KS2 pupils.
To help children prepare for the quiz, our Social Studies coordinator Miss Nicky has prepared some helpful “Knowledge Organisers” containing all of the information that the children may be tested on.
We value your support in helping your child learn these important and significant cultural facts about their adopted homeland.
The quiz will be held on Sunday 26th November. The top placed child in each year group will receive 30 house points, 2nd will receive 20 and 3rd will receive 10.

Now that the weather is cooling down, FS2 pick up will be from the outside steps/ entrance of the respective classes and not through the central Pod area. We will start using the individual class entrances from Sunday 12th November 2017.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
If we haven’t been notified of your child’s absence from school, we need to phone home to confirm. Please help us alleviate the pressure on reception by informing reception via the mobile app.

Dear FS1 Parents
FS1 children are very excited as, from today, they will be borrowing a book during their library lessons for you to share at home.
We are teaching the children how to take care of books and I would be grateful if you could carry this on at home. Please ensure the books are kept away from water bottles whilst in transit and supervise your child with his/her book. Damaged or lost books will be invoiced.
The book should be returned on library day every week so that it can be exchanged for a new one. We welcome parents in the library at morning drop off and between 2.30 pm and 3.00 pm should you wish to come along with your child.

On the 1st May 1851, Queen Victoria opened the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, London. This was an exciting time in British history, a time of innovation, invention and discovery. If we travel into the not too distant future, our very own United Arab Emirates will be hosting the Expo 2020, reigniting the passion for solving problems faced in a rapidly changing world.
Here at Victory Heights Primary School, we have found inspiration from the pioneers of the past and have looked towards the leaders of the future to design a curriculum that builds the essential skills to search for and solve problems in tomorrow’s world. This is the aim of our S.T.E.M curriculum.
You are therefore invited to the Multi-purpose Hall on Tuesday 28th November 2017 between 3pm and 4pm to witness a range of engineering projects from Year 2 – Year 6. This will be our very own Victory Heights Great Exhibition. We feel that it will be a superb prelude to the UAE’s Expo 2020.
We look forward to seeing you there.
