World Book Day – 23rd April

Dear Parents,

We are excited to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday, 23rd April, a special day dedicated to the joy of reading and bringing stories to life across our school.

This year, our celebrations will encourage creativity, imagination, and a love for language:

  • FS / Year 1 & Year 2: Children are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character, celebrating the stories they love most.
  • Year 3 – 6: Our focus is on “Silent Words”, where children will dress as a word that contains a silent letter (e.g., knight, gnome, writer) and be ready to share which letter is silent.

Throughout the day, children will take part in a range of engaging reading activities, celebrating storytelling, vocabulary, and the magic that books bring into our lives.
We encourage simple, creative costumes and most importantly, a shared excitement for reading.

Let’s come together to nurture a lifelong love of books because every story has the power to inspire, connect, and spark imagination.

Regards,
VHPS Team
